ABOUT TOM GILMAN
Tom Gilman is the founder and principal-in-charge of Gilman Architects. He graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1993 with a Master in Architecture degree. After finishing school, Tom founded his own construction company in San Francisco, Pillar Construction, reflecting his belief that every architect should have hands-on construction experience in order to better work with contractors and clients.

Returning to the East coast in 1995, he worked in private practice until founding Gilman Architects in 1998. During this time, Tom was the project architect of the New 42 Studio Building, an 11-story dance and theater rehearsal and performance building in the heart of Times Square (see image at right).

He is a Registered Architect in New York State and is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In addition to his practice, Tom is a board member and a volunteer for Creative Arts Workshops for Kids, a not-for-profit organization that helps inner city kids through the medium of creative arts.
